It has been a strong voter turnout at the Litchfield firehouse on Election Day, with voters arriving in force shortly after the polls opened at 6 a.m.

The flow of voters was steady all morning and into the afternoon. Expect the evening rush to be heavy.

In addition to voting state and federal races, voters are also considering a proposal to have the legislature consider early voting and a proposal to ban the retail sale of cannabis in Litchfield.

Candidates spotted at the Litchfield firehouse were 66th District state representative candidates Karen Reddington-Hughes, a Republican, and Matthew Dyer, a Democrat, Litchfield Hills Probate District judge candidates Jordan Richards, a Republican, and Kristen Mostowy, a Democrat, and the Republican candidate for Congress in the 5th District, George Logan.
