Republican candidates in Litchfield held their latest campaign event Saturday at Community Field.

The meet and greet saw first selectman Norman Sauer and his running mates for the Board of Selectmen, John Bongiorno and Daniel Morosani, welcome the public and present their ideas for governance of the town.

Special guests were state Sen. Stephen Harding Jr., R-Brookfield, and state Rep. Karen Reddington-Hughes, R-Woodbury. Harding and Reddington-Hughes both expressed support for Sauer and the GOP team in remarks to the crowd.

Incumbent GOP candidates participating were Cleve Fuessenich (Board of Assessment Appeals), Peter Losee (Planning and Zoning Commission) and Matt Tobin (Board of Finance). First-time candidates on hand were Stephan Krucker (Board of Finance) and Alan Landau (town treasurer).

The next opportunity to meet GOP candidates comes Wednesday when the Republican Town Committee hosts a pasta supper at the Litchfield firehouse from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Admission is $15 per person and $30 per family.
