Republican candidate for governor Bob Stefanowski had a lot of ground to cover in Northwest Connecticut on Saturday and did it with the help of Litchfield native Lizzie Wilson.

Wilson, a Litchfield High School graduate, is working as Stefanowski’s executive assistant during his campaign for governor. She joined Stefanowski’s staff in the summer after working for Themis Klarides, who lost a Republican primary determining the GOP’s candidate for the race against U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

“I got the call and accepted the job,” Wilson said of joining the Stefanowski campaign following Klarides’ defeat. “It’s been an amazing experience. We have a lot of motivation and momentum heading for Election Day.”

Wilson, a graduate of Merrimack University, coordinated a tour that took Stefanowski through Northwest Connecticut, beginning with Goshen in the morning. In the early afternoon, she was back on her home turf as the Stefanowski tour hit Litchfield for some campaigning on the Green, lunch at DiFranco’s Restaurant, treats at Espresso 57, and a tour of the Litchfield Distillery.

With the Nov. 8 election approaching, Wilson is working seven days a week, and loving every minute of it.

“Every day is different, and that’s what makes it exciting,” she said. “New people and new adventures every day.”
